To provide an efficient, effective and comprehensive administrative support for the ward/department/areaDuties will include administrative tasks such as record keeping, data entry, filing and scanning.The post holder will be expected to provide flexible cover within the whole of Maternity Services covering a range of different shift patterns (if applicable).You will be covering all areas of Maternity and providing general administration support to the Care Group.
Dealing with telephone queries, checking and updating patient information with clinical staff, managers and patientsCommunicating information verbally and in writing, providing routine information for patients and staff on, for example discharge, admission, transfers May be required to handle barriers to understanding for example anxious patients, relatives, cultural differences, and language or communication difficultiesAnalytical & JudgementalResolves problems, such as locating notes, patient appointment issues, accuracy of patient information, ward queries and escalating when necessary
Planning and Organisation
Organises own workloadOrganises patient transportation, discharges, appointments and patient admissions(ADTs)
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
Experience
Essential: - Experience of reception / ward clerk / clerical tasks.
Desirable: - Experience in a hospital setting; - Working within a team
Qualifications
Essential: - NVQ 2 in Administration or Business Management, or equivalent based on role
Desirable: - healthcare related admin qualifications / experience
Skills
Essential: - Excellent IT skills; - Excellent communication skills; - Flexible and adaptable to roles
Desirable: - Dealing with the public; - Experience multi tasking; - public / front facing clerical or admin duties
Knowledge
Essential
- Patient management systems
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality in the workplace.
- Must have basic Knowledge of Child protection issues
