Developing Resuscitation Officer

As a Developing Resuscitation Officer, you will deliver and support resuscitation and clinical skills training to healthcare professionals across NHS and independent healthcare organisations throughout England.

You will work with multidisciplinary groups, helping learners develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to recognise deterioration and respond effectively to clinical emergencies.

Working alongside experienced Resuscitation Officers and clinical educators, you will develop your own capability as an educator and resuscitation professional. As you progress, you will support the delivery of nationally accredited resuscitation programmes and work towards relevant instructor qualifications.

With appropriate training, competence and support, you may also participate as a clinical member of resuscitation teams at contracted sites and contribute to audit, quality improvement, policy and clinical governance activity relating to resuscitation practice.

You will maintain your professional registration, clinical credibility and continuing professional development while becoming an increasingly independent member of our clinical education team.

The Developing Resuscitation Officer is a registered healthcare professional undertaking a structured pathway to develop the clinical, educational and professional capabilities required to work as a Resuscitation Officer.

The post holder will deliver and support resuscitation and clinical skills education across a range of healthcare environments while developing their skills as a clinical educator.

Working initially with appropriate support and supervision, the post holder will progressively develop greater independence in training delivery and work towards relevant nationally recognised instructor qualifications.

With appropriate competence, training and supervision, the post holder may also participate as a clinical member of resuscitation teams at contracted sites and contribute to wider resuscitation governance, audit, policy and quality improvement activity.

The role requires regular travel to client locations throughout England and occasional overnight stays.

Maintain and develop clinical knowledge, skills, professional credibility and competence relevant to resuscitation, clinical deterioration and emergency care.

Maintain current professional registration and practise in accordance with the standards and requirements of the relevant professional regulator.

With appropriate training, competence and support, participate in resuscitation attempts or clinical emergency situations as a member of the clinical team at contracted sites where this forms part of the agreed service.

Support healthcare professionals to develop and maintain competence and confidence in resuscitation and associated clinical skills.

Provide appropriate professional advice relating to resuscitation practice, techniques and equipment within the post holder's level of competence and experience.

Recognise the limits of own competence and seek appropriate advice, supervision or escalation where required.

Maintain awareness of current evidence, national guidance and professional standards relevant to the role.

Deliver and support resuscitation and clinical skills training to multidisciplinary groups of healthcare professionals across a variety of healthcare settings.

Deliver training in accordance with approved lesson plans, course standards, clinical guidance and organisational requirements.

Create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment appropriate to the needs and experience of learners.

Facilitate practical skills development, simulation and scenario-based learning where appropriate.

Provide constructive feedback to learners and contribute to assessment of competence where required and appropriately qualified.

Support the delivery of nationally accredited resuscitation programmes as the post holder develops the appropriate knowledge, competence and instructor status.

Undertake an agreed professional development pathway, including opportunities to progress towards relevant nationally recognised instructor qualifications.

Maintain relevant instructor status once achieved and comply with the requirements and codes of conduct of awarding or accrediting organisations.

Contribute to the review and development of educational materials, lesson plans and training programmes where appropriate.

Contribute to clinical governance activity relating to resuscitation practice and education.

Participate in audit, quality improvement and evaluation activity and use feedback and outcomes to support continuous improvement.

Contribute, with appropriate support, to the development and review of policies, procedures, guidance and risk assessments relating to resuscitation and clinical education.

Identify and appropriately escalate clinical, educational or operational concerns arising during training or clinical activity.

Maintain accurate and timely records relating to training delivery, learner attendance, assessment and course outcomes in accordance with company requirements.

Work in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and A to E Training & Solutions policies and procedures.

Communicate confidently, professionally and sensitively with learners, clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.

Develop effective working relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals and adapt communication and educational approaches to meet different learning needs.

Represent A to E Training & Solutions professionally when working at client locations and maintain the standards expected of the organisation.

Work collaboratively as part of the wider clinical education team while developing the confidence and competence to work independently.

Respond appropriately and compassionately where training or clinical situations involve sensitive or distressing subject matter.

Take responsibility for maintaining professional registration and continuing professional development.

Actively participate in the Developing Resuscitation Officer development pathway and agreed objectives.

Seek, receive and respond positively to feedback, supervision and assessment.

Develop progressively towards independent practice as a Resuscitation Officer.

Maintain a professional portfolio and appropriate evidence of continuing professional and instructor development.

Take opportunities to maintain and develop clinical, educational and leadership capability relevant to the role.

Use training resources and equipment safely, effectively and responsibly.

Take appropriate care of training equipment and promptly report damage, faults or concerns.

This is a national role and the post holder will be required to travel regularly to client and training locations throughout England.

Be willing and able to work flexibly according to operational and client requirements.

Some early starts, later finishes, weekend working and overnight stays may be required.

A full UK driving licence is required.

The post holder must be comfortable working at different client locations and adapting to different healthcare and training environments.
