You will assess reported incidents of violence and abuse, providing an appropriate direct contact response, which may be from an email to a face-to-face discussion depending on the impact (psychological or physical) to the Staff member. You'll provide a psychologically safe space for Staff to contact, discuss incidents, share experiences and signpost Staff to associated post incident and wellbeing services and complete feedback loops. You will keep incident records up to date with information, actions, and outcomes and support the collation of data.
You will also work with Managers within Divisions on supporting Staff and upskilling on post-incident support processes.
Your role will also support the ongoing work to innovate and centralise the Trusts offer around post-incident support being engaged with Managers within Divisions, and specialist Managers across the Trust to provide feedback, be a part of the development of systems and be a conduit for messaging across the Trust.
Scope & Authority
To provide direct support to staff following incidents of violence or abuse in the workplace. To enable staff to talk about violence and abuse, provide compassionate and empathetic support to staff and managers, including coaching and training in post incident support.
To improve knowledge and culture around post incident support in the workplace. Through improved effective post incident support thereby also feeding improvements into existing systems for our baseline information to monitor change and effectiveness initiatives to address violence and abuse.
Lead the design of the centralised approach project working closely with the Quality and Governance and Culture & Organisational Development Leads drawing in challenges, barriers and potential opportunities, trends and themes from local managers.
As part of the design phase, interrogate the Trust's incident reporting system for key quantitative and qualitative risks, causal and impact factors for violence and abuse to inform centralised solutions for support and explore developments to Trust reporting system to improve data capture and quality.
Understand and including in the design, the links between violence and abuse, and the impact to wellbeing and sickness rates, playing back intelligence gained from engagement to inform the centralised system of work to contribute to reducing associated sickness through associated support provisions.
To also understand the links between violence and abuse, and Staff experience, feedback through Staff Survey results and contribute to the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) work to support the Trusts' objective to be an employer of choice.
To evidence their work through audit, evaluation, surveys, service review, as required and support the wider quality improvement activity through CQI relating to violence and abuse.
To work with Senior Managers within Quality and Governance and Culture & Organisational Development to build and maintain relationships for joined up working relating to tackling violence and abuse against Staff.
To develop Business Plans, Strategic Outline Cases (SOC), Outline Business Cases (OBC) and Full Business Cases (FBC) for capital developments as required to support potential provisions to tackle, reduce, and support following events of violence and abuse against Staff.
Provides advice, guidance and training to operational Staff and Managers on the use of the implemented centralised system for support relating to violence or abuse toward Staff. This includes analysing reported incidents of violence and abuse to, in accordance with the implanted system, provide an appropriate response level, contact, signposting to support.
Maintains and updates databases, reporting systems, preserving information quality, and confidentiality controls for any technical systems used (e.g. Ulysses).
Analyses outcomes/assessments and resolves failures to meet project standards for a fit for purpose centralised approach to tackling, reducing and supporting following events of violence and abuse against Staff.
To plan programmes of work relating to post incident support following events of violence and abuse, prioritising competing cases, coordinating reviews, and managing deadlines across Trust sites.
To attend project team meetings relating to tackling, reducing and supporting following events of violence and abuse, and lead the design of progress reports on the project as required.
You will be working with a busy and passionate Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance Team which works closely with the Culture, Leadership and Organisational Development Team. You will work with a number of specialist Managers and Leads, clinical/medical Staff and administrative Staff. We foster a supportive, warm and friendly atmosphere where staff wellbeing is paramount. We support staff development and offer regular wellbeing activities and opportunities to work flexibly.
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline or equivalent experience of working in this area
- Evidence of continuing personal development
Knowledge/Experience
Essential
- Highly experienced at managing complex relationships
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
