The post holder must ensure the provision of high-quality patient care by providing an efficient and effective administration service for the Consulta...

o To co-ordinate and be responsible for the provision of full secretarial and administrative services to the Consultant and his/her team for theatre bookings

o Management of the Consultant's diary for theatres and scheduling procedure dates accordingly.

o To maintain an overview of the consultant and team timetable to ensure full utilisation of theatre availability.

o To arrange special investigations and action other issues arising from pre-assessment appointments, ensuring that all tasks are dealt with in order according to their urgency

o Taking appropriate action to ensure that requests for diagnostics and follow-up appointments are processed in a timely fashion

Essential

  • Good standard of general Education including English Language, maths of GCSE or equivalent

Desirable

  • Customer Care Training or similar
  • Formal secretarial/senior administration training
  • NVQ2 or equivalent plus relevant experience

Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate from previous employment history evidence of job related achievements and success
  • Experience/ Knowledge of the 18 week pathway

Desirable

  • Good insight into the importance of NHS performance and quality standards
  • NHS experience in an Acute Trust
  • Previous experience of using databases

  • Well written Supporting Information with good examples of skills

Desirable

  • Ability to analyse complex situations and make appropriate decisions
