Responsible for carrying out tasks related to the decontamination process, including the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisatio...

Carry out all tasks associated with the decontamination process, including:

  • Cleaning, disinfection, inspection, packing, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensuring all items are prepared to the highest standards for use in Theatres, Wards, and other clinical departments.

Operate and maintain decontamination equipment in accordance with departmental protocols and manufacturer guidelines. Perform quality checks to ensure compliance with infection control and health & safety standards. Accurately record and maintain documentation relating to instrument processing and traceability. Assist with stock control and the safe storage of sterile items. Communicate effectively with colleagues and clinical teams to support service delivery. Travel duties (as required): - Transport sterile instruments and equipment between hospital sites or departments.

  • Ensure safe handling and secure delivery of items in line with HB policies.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc) Technical Certificate OR Vocational Level 3 Decontamination OR Equivalent level of knowledge, work experience and skills within a decontamination role

Knowledge

Essential

  • Some knowledge of surgical Instrumentation

Desirable

  • Familiar with ISO13485:2016 and UKMDR 2002 (as amended)
  • Welsh Language Speaking/Listening Skills at Level 3 or above

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in Sterile Services

Desirable

  • Working in a clean room environment
  • Work involving visual inspection and packaging
