Job description

Red Kite View is recruiting! We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working band 5 staff nurse to join our team to deliver high-quality care to chil...

The service has 22 beds (16 in Skylark Ward GAU and 6 in Lapwing Ward PICU) and is staffed by a dedicated multi-disciplinary team including nurses, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and a wide range of allied health professionals and non-clinical support staff. This job advert is for the General Adolescent Unit (GAU) - Skylark Ward.

The service team works closely with the young person's CYPMHS Community team during their stay at Red Kite View.

Most young people will come to Skylark Ward as informal patients. Some young people may need to be admitted under the Mental Health Act (1983) or subject to other court orders. Whatever the situation of the young person they will be offered assessment, treatment and support in one of our two wards. Both wards offer light, modern facilities including spacious, comfortable and private en-suite bedrooms.

Working as part of a multi-skilled, experienced, motivated and creative service, you will be responsible for contributing to the efficient day to day delivery of effective clinical care and risk management of the young people.

You will have great interpersonal skills and be able to establish a professional working relationship with young people and families. You will be cool in a crisis; it's a busy clinical area and we manage lots of risk-taking behavior including deliberate self-harm and management of violence and aggression. It is a demanding yet rewarding role. You will be keen to develop, and be able to support junior staff and learners, and be supported to offer clinical supervision as well as positive role modelling.

Your values are essential to this role; we are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a lasting impact on young people, who insists on doing things with care and diligence and is able to think on their feet.

The CAMHS inpatient unit structure will support and encourage progression; your development is vital to the service.

We recruit people based on their values and qualifications (where required) and believe that their lived experience is an advantage, this means that together we are as diverse as the communities we care for. Simply put, when we employ caring people who act with integrity and have the right skills, we can give those with mental health challenges, learning disabilities and neurodiversity high-quality care and support to live fulfilling lives, and make our staff feel purposeful, happy and valued.
