Staff Nurse

Maintains safe and high standards of practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Assessment, delivery and recording of direct & indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic endoscopic procedures.

To setup equipment required and assist during endoscopic procedures.

Management of biopsies and specimens according to local procedures.

Delegate to registered nurse/ other team members when fit to do so.

To participate in maintaining standards as set in the Global Rating Scale for Endoscopy and JAG accreditation.

Expansion and ongoing development of their nursing skills through personal development and subsequent skills transference to other members of the team and student nurses.

Administration of drugs as prescribed according to Trust policy and NMC regulations.

Contributes to the development of the Unit focusing on the delivery of timely, efficient and high-quality services.

Demonstrate knowledge of decontamination of endoscopes, clinical and sharps waste, COSHH, Health and Safety and Infection Control guidelines

Effective verbal and written communication with patients and staff, liaising with the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of care

Willingness to expand clinical nursing role in specific advanced nursing competencies within Trust agreed service developments

To comply with NMC Code of Practice, ensuring a personal professional portfolio is maintained

Participate in annual appraisal with the manager and produce a personal development plan.
