- As a Band 5 Staff Nurse within the Endoscopy Unit, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, safe, and compassionate care to patients throughout their endoscopy journey, from admission and preparation through to recovery and discharge. You will work closely with consultants, nurses, healthcare support workers, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure an excellent patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.
- Your duties will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, monitoring patients receiving sedation, and providing post-procedure recovery care. You will be expected to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to a safe and effective clinical environment.
- Previous Endoscopy experience is not essential; however, experience in a recovery, theatre, day surgery, acute care, or critical care setting would be highly advantageous.
- Experience caring for patients following sedation or anaesthesia will be particularly valuable as recovery nursing is an integral part of the Endoscopy patient pathway.

Education/Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC registration (1ST level)
- Evidence of Level 2 literacy and numeracy (or equivalent)
- Completion of a recognised Recovery Course or equivalent competency - based recovery training
Desirable
- Mentorship/ Practice Assessor or Teaching Qualification.
- Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development.
- Endoscopy care skills or JETS Workforce certification.
Experience
Essential
- Post registration nursing experience in acute healthcare setting.
- At least one year experience in Endoscopy
- Experience of caring for patients during recovery phase following sedation, anaesthesia, or invasive procedures
Desirable
- Experience assisting with advanced endoscopic procedure (e.g. ERCP, EUS)
- Experience supporting patients receiving conscious sedation.
- Experience participating in audit or quality improvement initiatives.
- Good IT skills including use of email and Microsoft word packages
