The Sterile Services department (SSD) provides essential services of reprocessing surgical instruments and Endoscopy for use in wards and departments ...

  • To liaise with service users on routine matters.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and the Team Leader(s).
  • Collection of used items from departments, theatres and wards throughout the hospital site as required.
  • Sorting, checking and processing used surgical instruments and other items using appropriate machinery.
  • Attain familiarity with surgical instruments and their use and demonstrate ability to dismantle and reassemble instruments ready for surgery.
