o Providing direct clinical care to all patientso Formulate a diagnosis and develop a management strategy or plan for each patiento Provide patient management in accordance with Emergency Department protocols, practice standards and Trust policieso Provide clear and precise written and electronic documentation of patient careo Provide advice and support to junior doctors on all aspects of emergency medicineo Participate in the current shift rota patterno Participate and lead on clinical auditso Participate in the annual staff appraisal

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in Emergency Medicine.
- Knowledge of the role of clinical governance in current clinical practice.
Desirable
- Special interest in a subspecialty of emergency medicine e.g. risks management, acute medicine or paediatrics.
- Audit of Emergency Medicine.
- Experience of teaching both post and undergraduate students and professions allied to medicine.
- Experience of educating support staff.
- Knowledge of research techniques in clinical medicine.
- Knowledge of the use of patient databases and IT websites.
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Ability to take on full & independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Written and spoken English skills that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Skills in teaching under & post graduate students.
- Good leadership & organisational skills.
- Flexibility to fit with service requirements & ability to work in a team.
- Honesty, reliability and good personal organisation skills.
- Caring attitude to patients and those close to them.
- Ability to negotiate for services & funding with other relevant parties.
Desirable
- Evidence of appropriate management training.
- Interest in future research.
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- MB ChB or equivalent.
- MRCEM or equivalent.
- Fully registered with GMC.
- Provider in PALS/APLS, ALS and ATLS or its equivalent.
Desirable
- Teaching or training qualifications.
Additional and Aptitudes
Essential
- Meet professional health requirements in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
- Demonstrates the four Trust Values.
