Specialised Physiotherapist

a) To formulate an individualised management and/or treatment plan, using clinical reasoning skills and utilising a wide range of treatment skills.

b) To evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.

c) To maintain own professional development through reflective practice, attendance of in-service training, appropriate postgraduate courses, keeping up to date with new evidence and effective ways of working, assessing and treating patients and changing practice as appropriate.

d) To identify objectives for personal development through the Trust's Individual Performance Review Programme (IPR).

e) To participate in clinical supervision following the department's guidelines for clinical supervision.

f) To occasionally present at in-service training programmes, staff meetings, training sessions/courses (internal and external).

a) To undertake the comprehensive assessment and treatment of patients, including those with complex presentations, using investigative and analytical skills.

b) To maintain own records and work as an autonomous practitioner.

c) To provide appropriate treatment for patients using evidence-based practice

d) To participate and lead exercises classes

e) To be actively involved in the collection of appropriate data and statistics for the use of the department.

f) To Provide clinical supervision/mentorship to an allocated member of lower banded staff

g) To take an active role in the teaching and supervision of junior staff, assistants and students.

h) To deputise for the Team Leader as necessary

i) To take an active role in providing and/or attending Inservice training to the local and wider Musculoskeletal rehabilitation department(s)

j) To demonstrate the trust values and attitudes regarding the management of patients and working everyday with colleagues.

k) To seek guidance from senior staff as required and to give guidance to more junior staff

l) To be responsible for the safe use of equipment used in carrying out duties, adhering to the departments medical devices policy. This includes competence and accuracy to use equipment by yourself and other healthcare professionals, carers and patients e.g. monitoring and maintaining the safety and condition of the gym equipment.

m). To be able to manage potentially stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner including patients with chronic pain presentations and psychosocial problems

n) To be responsible for leading outpatient classes including hydrotherapy.

o) Attend mandatory training updates as required.

p) Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process.

q) Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.

r) Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager

s) Participate in the Trusts appraisal process to discuss how your role will help deliver the best possible care to our patients and help to deliver any changes in service.

Qualifications

Essential: - HCPC Registered or equivalent; - Physiotherapy or Osteopathy (BSc or MSc equivalent)

Desirable: - Evidence of post-graduate education such as post grad Diploma or MSC modules.
