Sonographer

You will work as an independent practitioner without direct clinician input and will provide written and verbal, clinical/diagnostic reports, including suggestions for further patient management and are, therefore, directly accountable for their actions.

Scanning clinics will be in a variety of venues, including antenatal ultrasound, radiology department, diagnostic assessment centre (CDC), North Cambs Hospital site, wards, operating theatres and other off-site clinics as required. In addition, you will manage and deliver an effective ultrasound service to ensure a high standard of care for all patients under the post holder's care. Organise an effective and efficient service. This requires knowledge and experience to plan and prioritise patient workload; one's own section workload and training sessions. There is an expectation to manage a range of patients with differing demands including in-patients, geriatrics and paediatrics.

Qualifications/training and professional development

Essential: - DCR/Degree, DMU or PGD/PGC/MSc in Medical Ultrasound; - BSc in Radiography/Midwifery/Physiotherapy; - CASE accredited Ultrasound course; - HCPC Registration

Experience

Essential: - Experience as an Obs/Gynae and/or general sonographer

Desirable: - Experience with Carotid scanning; - Experience scanning soft tissues; - Experience in Musculo-skeletal scanning
