Job description
What will you be doing?An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Social Worker in the East Young People's Team. Our team consists of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Social Work Assistants and you will work closely with our colleagues in Disabled Children's Social Work Teams and other key agencies, such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.Kent County Council (KCC) offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. The contractual base will be Brook House, Whitstable or St Peter’s House, Broadstairs. The team covers Canterbury, Thanet and surrounding areas, there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.You will be working with disabled young people aged between 18 and 25 supporting them to progress towards independence. The role within our team will enable you to gain further experience in a wide range of work including Care Act Assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and supporting young people into adulthood.You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled young people, their families and carers.You will hold a Degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have a variety of post-qualification experience.KCC has an extensive training and development programme in place, providing employees with support and opportunities to further develop their knowledge and skills, ensuring they receive regular high-quality supervision.We offer an attractive benefits package and a commitment to ensuring that you achieve a healthy work/life balance and opportunities for flexible working arrangements which meet business need. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
