1. The Dermatology Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a senior specialist practitioner responsible for providing expert, compassionate and evidence-based nursing care for patients with suspected or confirmed skin cancer. Working as an integral member of the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), the post holder will coordinate the patient pathway from the point of suspicion through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship and, where appropriate, palliative and end-of-life care.

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent professional qualification
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
- Postgraduate qualification in cancer care, oncology, dermatology or equivalent specialist experience
- Qualification in lesion recognition.
- Advanced communication skills training
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Teaching, mentoring or assessing qualification, or willingness to undertake
Desirable
- Master's degree or working towards Master's level study
- Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification
- Advanced Clinical Assessment qualification
- Level 2 Psychological Support qualification
- Leadership or management qualification
- Research or Quality
- Improvement qualification
- Qualification in minor surgery
Experience
Essential
- Significant post-registration experience in oncology, dermatology or specialist cancer nursing
- Experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or equivalent
- Experience coordinating complex patient pathways
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience supporting patients with complex emotional and psychological needs
- Experience undertaking audit, service evaluation or quality improvement

- Experience leading specialist skin cancer services
- Experience developing nurse-led clinics
- Experience implementing remote monitoring services
- Experience contributing to clinical research
- Experience writing clinical guidelines or policies
- Experience managing change or service redesign
