Sister / Charge Nurse

The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, be dynamic and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour.

The successful applicant will take responsibility for the day to day ward environment. They will ensure that high standards of nursing care is provided and drive forward both service development and quality improvement . They will also be ensuring we promote patient safety and a positive patient experience.

Within this role you will be expected to work closely with the other teams such as bed manager and patient flow, to ensure that our patients are getting the right care in the right place. Previous experience within this role would be desirable.

Qualifications

Essential: - NMC registration; - Significant post registration experience

Desirable: - Surgical Foundation Course; - Other surgical/medical training courses

Experience and Knowledge

Essential: - Evidence of management / leadership skills; - Evidence of working with vascular and urology patients

Desirable: - Practice assessor/supervisor training; - Evidence of coaching / mentoring staff

Skills and Abilities

Essential: - Evidence of leading a team / shift; - Evidence of prioritising and managing staff to achieve safe staffing levels

Desirable: - Evidence of ability to act as decision maker; - Evidence of engagement with governance processes

Service Development

Essential: - Evidence of long length of stay meetings
