- Provide a consultant-led specialist orthodontic advisory and treatment service.
- Deliver high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary setting.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, risk management and service improvement activities.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
- Supervise Specialty Registrars and other trainees as an Educational and/or Clinical Supervisor.
- Support research, teaching and quality improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and managerial colleagues to develop services across North Cumbria.

The successful candidate will play a key role in:
- Training Specialty Registrars and Post-CCST Trainees
- Teaching undergraduate dental students

Essential
- BDS or equivalent GDC registerable qualification.
- Current full registration with the General Dental Council.
- Entry on the GDC specialist list in Orthodontics.
- CCT and Completion of a recognised accreditation programme in Orthodontics at Post CCST or equivalent level of training or within 6 months of completion
- MOrth or equivalent
- FDS in Orthodontics or equivalent
Desirable: - Postgraduate qualification.; - Level 2b certification in CBCT requesting and reporting. Interest in digital orthodontics
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- High level of clinical experience and competence in orthodontics
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
- Experience of specialist multidisciplinary team working such as in orthognathic surgery and restorative dentistry and cleft care
Management & Administrative
Essential
- Ability to organise and manage own workload efficiently.
- Appropriate recording and timely administration associated with clinical care.
- Experience of audit management
- Ability to advice on efficient and smooth running of secondary care orthodontic service.
Desirable: - Participation in managed clinical network or equivalent
Teaching
Essential
- Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate staff.
- Experience of Clinical and Educational Supervisor roles or desire to develop in these roles
- Current trainer accreditation through Health Education England or equivalent or working towards this.
Desirable: - Teaching of non-medical health professionals.
Research, Audit and Clinical Governance
Essential: - Experience of, and commitment to, medical audit.; - Experience of research and Clinical Governance.
Desirable: - Ability to supervise postgraduate research.; - Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Communication skills and abilities
