To have the responsibility in providing expert levels of practice and knowledge, promoting evidence based care within the Peri-Operative Practice and Day Surgical ward environment, working within personal, professional and corporate boundaries.
To act as a professional role model across all teams, working in accordance to the Health Board values.
Ensure that staff participate in a developing culture where openness and a positive approach to learning, change management and continuous professional development are attained.
Demonstrate the ability to deal with complex physical and psychological needs and use one's judgement in negotiating and adapting patient care to provide solutions.
Takes the lead in planning, organising and initiating developments in services.
Participate and support the Senior Nurse/ Clinical Manager in multidisciplinary clinical audit programmes including relevant standards relating to the speciality.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
- Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- Registered Nurse Level 1 and current NMC Registration OR Registered Operating Department Practitioner and current HCPC Registration
- Degree/ Diploma in Health Subject
- Leadership/ Management modules
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to peri-operative practice
Desirable
- Master's in Health - related subject
- Teaching, mentoring or assessment qualification
- Improvement Cymru - Quality Improvement Framework (Bronze/Silver) certification
Experience
Essential
- Significant peri-operative experience within a multi-professional environment
- Demonstrate ability to innovative and lead change in clinical practice
- Experience of audit and service development.
Desirable: - Experience working across multiple sites or services within a Health Board
Language Skills
Desirable: - Welsh speaker (Level 1)
