The Senior Practice Nurse will take a lead role within our practice nursing team, providing clinical care to patients alongside supporting and supervising the wider healthcare team.
The postholder will currently provide support and supervision to:
- 1 Treatment Room Nurse
- 2 Healthcare Assistants
You will be supported by, and report to, our Advanced Nurse Practitioner Partner, with good access to clinical and management support.
Clinical responsibilities will include
- Chronic disease management, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma and COPD
- Vaccinations and immunisations
- Childhood immunisations
- Travel health
- Weight management
- Cervical screening
- Contraception and women's health
- Health promotion and disease prevention
- NHS health checks
- Supporting medicines optimisation and appropriate clinical monitoring
- Independent prescribing where qualified, or a willingness to work towards a recognised prescribing qualification
- Providing clinical advice and support to the nursing and healthcare assistant team
- Helping to maintain high standards of clinical governance, infection prevention and patient safety
We are looking for an experienced registered nurse with a strong background in general practice or primary care nursing.
Ideally, you will have experience in a number of the clinical areas above and be confident in supporting and developing other members of the nursing team.
We particularly value someone who is
- Patient focused and committed to high-quality care
- Experienced in chronic disease management
- An independent prescriber, or willing to work towards becoming an independent prescriber
- Supportive and approachable as a senior member of the team
- Organised and able to work independently
- Interested in developing services and improving patient care
- Comfortable working as part of a wider multidisciplinary primary care team
