Senior Physiotherapist- Therapies at the front door

• To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations; using acquired clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques.
• Formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills.
• Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
• Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if required.
• To manage clinical risk within own patient case load.
• To comply with the Trust Manual Handling Policy and local therapeutic handling guidance at all times.
• To deal sensitively with patients who have high levels of anxiety and aggression caused by pain, dementia or limited mobility.
• To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) standards of practice.
• To be aware of departmental/hospital policies and procedures.
• To be part of the respiratory on call roster.

Essential

• Experience as a Physiotherapist in a variety of clinical areas including surgical, stroke/neurology/medicine/older adults and respiratory
• Experience of working as part of a team/ MDT
• Good theoretical knowledge with working knowledge of a broad range of conditions
• Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education
• Previous NHS experience at Band 5 level

Essential

• Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role
• Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service
• Excellent verbal, non verbal and written skills along with clear logical presentation skills
• Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team
• Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner
• Ability to cope with working in a moderately demanding environment with aggressive and emotional people
