Senior Pharmacy Technician - Centralised Homecare and Procurement

The successful candidate(s) is expected to exercise a degree of autonomy in the performance of allocated duties within limits set by their managers and work in accordance with departmental and Health Board policies and procedures

Be responsible for supervision, development and management of allocated pharmacy medicines management staff within medicines procurement and homecare for the Pharmacy and Medicines Management Division.

Within medicines procurement and homecare, lead and assist projects and areas of work, developing strategies for service improvement that reflect professional and corporate objectives in conjunction with the Pharmacist Senior Managers.

Support with delivery of services within homecare and procurement, including pharmacy IT system management, Freedom of Information requests.

Deputise for Line Manager on local, regional and National forums to facilitate evidence based, cost effective procurement of medicines within BCUHB.

Perform clinical verification of homecare script within remit (when accredited) ensuring compliance with professional, legal, commissioning and regulatory requirements.

Experience

Essential: - A substantial level of post qualification experience in pharmacy services.; - Experience of managing pharmacy team(s)

Desirable: - Experience in a broad range of pharmacy services.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential: - Confident and authoritative inter-personal skills.; - Leadership skills.; - Able to prioritise and delegate

Desirable: - Experience of interviewing.

Knowledge

Essential: - Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy services for specialist area to degree level or equivalent.; - Knowledge of budget control

Desirable: - Knowledge of health service developments that will impact on area of responsibility
