Semi-rural practice, close to

Reading, approx. 10,000 patients

Currently 4 partners, 7 salaried

doctors, 4 GP registrars

Personal list based on usual

doctor to encourage continuity with buddy and duty system

15-minute appointments

Highly skilled nursing team with

nurse led clinics including minor illness

Dispensary on site, dispensing to

30% of patients

7 weeks annual leave & 1 week

Salary: £11,506.62 per session

with clinical pharmacists, social prescribers and care co-ordinators

Work in accordance with GMC Good Medical Practice and maintain the highest professional and ethical

standards.

Consult with patients during normal surgery hours (8:30am6:30pm).

15 minutes appointments.

Share in the duty doctor rota on a pro-rata basis.

Conduct home visits, shared out equally among doctors each morning.

Provide consultations that identify patients problems effectively, ensuring clear communication and

continuity of care.

Provide proactive care by screening patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.

Order appropriate investigations, monitor treatment, and make timely referrals to secondary or

community care.

Deliver holistic, patient-centred care promoting physical, psychological, and social wellbeing.

Cover designated clinics (e.g. diabetes, child health, antenatal, Well Woman) and local

nursing/residential care homes as required.

Provide contraceptive services and minor surgery (optional, dependent on skills).

Complete medical examinations and medico-legal reports as required.

Ensure accurate and timely clinical record-keeping using EMIS.

Participate in clinical decision-making, case discussions, and debriefing sessions with Partners or

colleagues.

Support GP Trainees and students by providing feedback, tutorials, and informal teaching.

Participate in clinical decision-making, case discussions, and debriefing sessions with partners or colleagues.

Prescribe safely, effectively, and cost-consciously, following the Practice and ICB formulary.

Monitor and review patients on repeat medication.

Provide guidance and support for clinical pharmacists within the Practice.

Manage EMIS tasks, Docman workflow, emails, Medicines Management, Lab results, and

correspondence efficiently and promptly.

Contribute to the development and review of Practice protocols and clinical audits.

Comply with Practice and statutory policies, including health and safety.

Participate in a range of internal and external meetings, including clinical, Practice, safeguarding, Gold

Standards Framework (GSF), educational sessions, and multi-agency meetings.

Maintain a Personal Development Plan (PDP) and keep up to date with clinical knowledge and skills.

Support training and supervision of registrars, students, and healthcare team members.

Collaborate effectively with all members of the primary healthcare team.

Uphold and enhance the good reputation of the Practice.

The Practice ethos is that of a strong close-knit Practice team, maintaining high standards of patient care in

an efficient, well-organised and friendly environment. Patients interests are kept to the fore with a strong

emphasis on continuity of care, personal doctoring and integrity in the workplace. A high level of

achievement under the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets demonstrates this commitment to

high quality healthcare.

The Doctors are keen and willing to give new ideas a try and are not afraid of change providing it does not

have a detrimental effect on the patients or current Practice team. The Partners work together to provide

the team with strong and effective strategic management. All Partners have a strong commitment to the

NHS remaining in public ownership.

The Practice has its own dispensary and provides this service for around 30% of its registered population.

The Practice is an approved training and teaching Practice. The partners and doctors aspire to achieving a

good work-life balance and flexibility in the workplace.

The Practice also has an active social calendar, including Christmas and summer parties and we use PLT

sessions to bring the staff together as well as to keep everyone updated.
