We are seeking a Salaried GP to join our friendly, forward-thinking training practice in Litherland, Liverpool. This is a 6-session role across 3 days...

The successful applicant will undertake a mix of routine and urgent GP consultations, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to our practice population. The role includes management of acute and chronic conditions, results handling and clinical correspondence, with protected time allocated for administrative responsibilities.

The post includes one duty day per week, supported by an Acute Visiting Scheme and an experienced multidisciplinary team. We are committed to delivering safe, sustainable workloads through 15-minute appointments and protected clinical administration time.

As a long-established training practice, we also offer opportunities to contribute to teaching, supervision and wider practice development according to the interests of the successful candidate.

The Salaried GP will be a key member of the practice team, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to a registered list of approximately 5,800 patients. The successful applicant will work within a supportive training practice offering 15-minute appointments, protected clinical administration time and a sustainable workload model. The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to deliver safe, effective and responsive primary care services whilst contributing to the ongoing development of the practice.

Clinical Responsibilities

The successful applicant will

Undertake routine and urgent GP consultations, both face-to-face and by telephone.

Deliver care through 15-minute appointments, with protected time allocated for clinical administration and workflow management.

Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated and complex health problems.

Provide continuing care for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions.

Prescribe safely and in accordance with local and national guidance.

Review and action pathology results, correspondence and other clinical administration within allocated administrative time.

Undertake home visits where clinically appropriate, with support from the local Acute Visiting Scheme.

Maintain accurate, contemporaneous electronic patient records.

Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.

Participate in safeguarding and other statutory responsibilities in line with practice policies.

Practice Responsibilities

The post holder will

Participate in the practice duty rota, currently comprising one duty day per week within the 6-session role.

Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and accessible care.

Contribute to clinical governance, significant event reviews, audit and quality improvement activities.

Support the education and development of medical students, GP trainees and other learners where appropriate.

Contribute to practice meetings and service development initiatives.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across South Sefton Primary Care Network.

Ford Medical Practice has been providing NHS General Medical Services to patients across Litherland, Netherton, Thornton, Seaforth, Bootle and Crosby since 1962. We are proud to combine the personal feel of a community practice with the benefits of a modern, well-resourced working environment.

Our friendly team of 17 staff is led by two GP Partners and includes 3 Salaried GPs, a Practice Nurse, Trainee Nursing Associate, Healthcare Assistant, Medical Secretaries and an experienced Reception and Administration team. Experience

Essential

  • MBBS, MBChB or equivalent primary medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the GP Register.
  • Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List (or eligible for inclusion prior to commencement).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and participation in appraisal and revalidation.
  • Medical defence organisation membership (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).

Desirable

  • MRCGP qualification.
  • Additional qualifications or specialist interests relevant to primary care.
  • Educational supervision, GP trainer or teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience of delivering primary care services within general practice.
  • Ability to manage patients with acute and chronic medical conditions independently.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent consultation, communication and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a salaried GP.
  • Experience of clinical audit, quality improvement or service development.
  • Experience of teaching, training or supervising healthcare learners.
  • Experience of using EMIS Web.
