Rehabilitation Assistant for Critical Care

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate they have an interest in rehabilitation, are a team player with excellent communication skills, a positive outlook, enthusiastic and can learn new skills. Previous experience in rehabilitation in the acute hospital setting would be advantageous.

The post holder will provide a service alongside the therapy team to assist in the provision of patient centered rehabilitation. They will work, under supervision, to assist the therapists in clinical and administrative duties, following specific competency- based training.

The post holder will be delegated routine treatment programmes to be carried out independently, and progress treatments within guidelines laid down by the Therapists.

A full and comprehensive induction and training programme will be provided, allowing you to develop skills in various therapeutic areas.

Working hours are Monday to Friday to support the multi-disciplinary therapies team. This post is based at the University Hospital of Wales.

Qualifications

Desirable: - 5 GCSEs, or equivalent

Experience

Essential: - Healthcare work; - Dealing with People both individually or in groups; - Working in a team

Desirable: - Previous therapy assistant experience; - Previous experience working in a care environment

Skills

Essential: - Ability to communicate with a wide range of people; - Good organisational skills; - IT skills; - Ability to work alone

Desirable: - Ability to speak Welsh

Special Knowledge

Essential: - A basic awareness of rehabilitation; - An awareness of the role of the MDT in critical care

Desirable: - Knowledge of organisation; - Knowledge of disability issues; - Knowledge of manual and therapeutic handling
