Registered Nurse

To deliver a high standard of nursing care as a member of the Inpatient Unit Service, providing clinical guidance, direction, and support to the unit. Working with other members of the Inpatient Services Team to ensure delivery of high-quality evidence-based care and adherence to the CQC fundamental standards.

Provide high-quality, holistic nursing care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, using evidence-based practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Administer medications safely, manage wound care, communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, and provide compassionate emotional support to patients and their families.

Support and supervise Healthcare Assistants and student nurses, contributing to induction, training and mentoring activities. Maintain accurate patient records, deliver clear handovers, and advocate for patients to ensure their wishes and needs are represented.

Identify and manage risks, undertake patient risk assessments, and contribute to continuous service improvement through suggestions and implementation of changes to practice. Provide specialist clinical knowledge across the Inpatient Unit, working closely with colleagues, patients, families, healthcare professionals, volunteers and external agencies to deliver outstanding palliative care. Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

As well as our inpatient unit at Woodside Avenue, we work within the wider community including our Outpatient and Wellbeing services; our support to patients in their own homes; our Community Specialist Palliative Care services; and our Patient and Family Support teams, providing emotional and practical support to patients, their families, and carers.

The Inpatient Services Team provide holistic, skilled, high-quality, and patient centred palliative careto all in-patients.

Qualifications

Essential: - Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council

Desirable: - Working toward degree or diploma

Experience

Essential: - Demonstrable interest in palliative care; - Experience of working with patients with life limiting illness

Desirable: - Supervisory experience
