Job SummaryTo professionally lead the clinical and care team during any span of duty ensuring that a safe effective and efficient nursing and care service is maintained which meets the needs of residents in our care To provide exceptional clinical care to residents in accordance with their assessed needs ensuring compliance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC Code of Conduct and industry leading standards

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical leadership for the care team and act as a champion for residents safety clinical governance and dignityTo maintain skills professional knowledge and NMC registration ensuring that all aspects of complex nursing and personal care are delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence availableEnsure the ongoing safety of residents colleagues and visitors through systematic clinical assessment risk monitoring and reviewing of care processesEnsure that clear accurate and legally defensible records and communication systems relating to clinical and care delivery are maintained and effectively usedAct as a role model for good clinical and care governance practice

Provide leadership and support for the care team and act as a champion for residents safety and dignityProvide effective leadership during your shift and direct support guidance and supervision for the senior carers and care teamSupervise nursing and care colleagues on a day-to-day basis and through formal clinical supervision and processesLiaise with GPs social workers and other multidisciplinary health professionals to ensure that residents receive the medical and clinical support they requireDemand high quality evidence-based care delivery focused on residents individually assessed needs and choicesPromote the professional image of the nursing service through excellent communication appropriate behaviour and professional appearanceSupport and assist new nursing and care colleagues with the completion of induction programs competencies and training assessments

To maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to latest guidelines and best practice evidence availableMaintain clinical skills and keep up to date with professional developments revalidation requirements and best practice in areas relevant to older people and dementia careUndertake statutory mandatory and advanced clinical training appropriate to your role and ensure learning is shared and transferred into daily practiceProvide oversee and review the daily delivery of clinical care including complex wound management pressure area prevention syringe drivers nutrition and infection prevention and control proceduresTake full responsibility for the safe appropriate and legal administration storage and recording of medication in accordance with NMC guidelines and The Ingleborough Nursing Home Policies and ProceduresAct at all times within your own professional scope of practice skills and competence as outlined by the NMC

Ensure the ongoing safety of residents colleagues and visitors through systematic assessment monitoring and reviewing processesDevelop implement and evaluate detailed clinical care plans related to the assessed health needs and choices of individual residentsEnsure that areas of identified clinical risk are appropriately monitored and outcomes recorded and acted upon using validated tools such as MUST Waterlow falls assessments fluid nutrition charts and blood glucose monitoringReport and investigate all accidents incidents and near-misses promptly in accordance with The Ingleborough Nursing Home and regulatory protocolsEnsure accident incident reports are written clearly concisely and that any remedial action or learning is immediately incorporated into daily care deliverySupport residents to remain as independent and active as possible promoting the philosophy of activity-based and person-centred careAdhere to Safeguarding Adults Policies and Procedures taking immediate action to escalate any concerns or untoward events in accordance with Local Authority and CQC requirementsEnsure that clinical and medical equipment is maintained in a safe clean and fully functional state reporting any faults immediately to the home managerBe responsible for the care and protection of residents propertyMaintain standards of infection control within the home and to assist residents to maintain their own infection control needs

Ensure that clear and accurate records and communication systems relating to clinical and care delivery are maintained and effectively usedBe aware of company policies regulatory guidelines and CQC frameworks ensuring these requirements are strictly incorporated into clinical practiceEnsure effective professional and clearly documented handover systems are maintained to facilitate the seamless transfer of clinical information between shiftsAttend and actively participate in clinical and team meetings as required by the Home Manager Deputy Manager or Clinical LeadUnderstand the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in relation to consent capacity assessments and best interest decision-makingProvide professional updates to residents and relatives regarding clinical care delivery being strictly mindful of data protection confidentiality and Caldicott principlesEnsure a high standard of clinical record keeping is maintained in accordance with NMC guidelines the Health and Social Care Act and Company requirements

Safeguarding Adults at Risk Mental Capacity ActTo complete training on Safeguarding Adults at Risk and the Mental Capacity Act and be able to understand and implement safeguarding and MCA policies and procedures taking responsibility for reporting any safeguarding concerns to the senior person on duty Registered Manager or Nominated Individual in line with North Yorkshire Safeguarding Adults Board NYSAB frameworks
