The post holder will promote equality for all service users in a standalone 7 bedded dynamic Assessment and Treatment unit that offers high quality care & treatment for people with a learning disability. The post holder will assist with initial assessment process, contributing to discharge planning at the point of entry, ensuring consistent application of care and treatment plans throughout the duration of admission. The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and will be supported in their personal and professional development.

Education/Qualifications
Essential: - Registered Learning Disability/Mental Health Nurse
Desirable: - Evidence of post registration training relevant to the service area
Knowledge
Essential: - Knowledge of Transforming Care Agenda; - Understanding of the MHA, MCA Equality Act, DoLS and Safeguarding; - Knowledge of Physical Health needs
Desirable: - Understanding of evidence based practice within and MDT
Skills/Experience
Essential
- Effective Communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to advocate for service users
- Ability to take initiative and work alone
- Experience of working within a Learning Disability Service
Desirable
- Has knowledge of relational boundaries and how they impact on the working environment
- Experience of managing shifts on and inpatient ward
- Experience of the line management of unqualified staff
