The successful candidate will be responsible for a busy reception and will be dealing with visitors to the St Giles building. This post involves dealing with service users and visitors, answering the telephone in a professional manner so excellent communication skills are vital. In this position you will operate a busy telephone service dealing with callers in a courteous and friendly manner. The ability to take messages accurately and friendly and tactful approach is necessary. The post holder will also be dealing with post and parcels for the building. In this position there will be service improvement requirements which the post holder will be able undertake. The person should be approachable, willing to take on new tasks, and be able to use their own initiative. The post holder should be willing to take instructions from the Business & Admin Manager and be acceptable to taking on additional tasks.
1. Provide comprehensive reception service in a busy reception in a community mental health team setting which include assisting people in a helpful, diplomatic and tactful manner, screening and re-routing calls, as appropriate. Taking clear, concise message and dealing with general enquiries, where appropriate. To maintain the reception area to ensure that it is always presentable. Overseeing the signing-in procedure for service users and visitors on arrival. To allocate interview rooms and maintain the room booking systems. To be able to act independently to ensure daily allocated task and on-going workload are prioritised and completed with agreed timescales whilst maintaining quality standards.
2. To deliver a high standard of customer care representative of the service and the overall trusts objectives.
3. To provide a professional and confidential administration service which may include, copy typing, photocopying, scanning dealing with post and other duties as required.
4. Assist with non-clinical processes which need to be undertaken to support clinical teams and the overall service delivery of quality patient care.
5. Support maintenance of the service environment. To report maintenance faults. Support the team with regards to roles related to First Aid, Fire Warden, Health and Safety.
6. Assist with the induction and day to day supervision of junior/temporary staff.
7. In conjunction with other members of the administration team support the service wide cover arrangements. To work in a flexible and open manner in line with the needs of the service.
8. To participate in any training and developmental needs as required by the Business Manager/Team Manager. To undertake any other duties considered relevant to the service, appropriate to the banding of this post, as negotiated with the Business Manager and/or Team Manager.

The position is working in a community mental health centre which is part of the South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust. There are four teams that current occupy the building.
Education and Qualification
Essential
- Administration qualification or demonstrable experience e.g reception, customer care
- GCSE's or equivalent qualifications in English (A-C grade) and Mathematics (A-C Grade) (A)
Skills & Abilities

- Excellent Communication Skills both verbal and written ( A & T)
- Confident telephone Manner ( A and I/T)
- Excellent Copy typing skills 40 wpm or above (A and T)
- Accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation (A&T)

- Experience of working in he NHS, ideally within a mental health environment, hospital of community clinic
