- Greet patients and visitors in a polite and professional manner
- Answer telephone calls promptly and direct enquiries appropriately
- Book, amend and cancel appointments using the practice's clinical system
- Handle patient queries sensitively and confidentially
- Assist patients with registrations forms and general paperwork
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Scan and file medical documents
- Manage incoming and outgoing post
- Liaise with clinicians, nurses and other staff as required
- Ensure reception area is tidy and welcoming
- Manage waiting room
- Follow practice policies and procedures for confidentiality and data protection
- Support other administrative staff during busy periods
As a GP Receptionist, you will be the welcoming face and voice of our practice, providing a professional and compassionate first point of contact for patients. You will manage appointments, handle enquiries, support clinicians and help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is a varied and fast-paced role that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a caring, patient-focused approach. Qualifications
Essential
- Good standard of general education (GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths)
- Willingness to undertake further training
- Previous experience in a customer facing role
- Experience of working in a busy office environment
Desirable: - Experience working in a GP practice, primary care or NHS setting; - Experience using clinical systems (eg EMIS, Outlook)
