Psychiatry Specialty Doctor

Providing an additional medical resource to the LPOP team. e.g. conducting assessments on older people in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust wards (mainly at St James's University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary) providing advice to general hospital colleagues, forming initial management plans, contributing to emergency cover and delivering education and training sessions for general hospital colleagues of all disciplines.

The appointee will join a multi-disciplinary team consisting of doctors, band 6 nurses, a clinical team manager and health support worker.

LPOP is integrated with other parts of the Mental Health Service in Leeds. Provision includes inpatient wards, community mental health teams, a memory service as well as an intensive community service.

Revalidation and appraisal is well established within the Trust and it is expected that all Specialty Doctors will actively participate in the annual medical appraisal process.

Section 12 approval is required for this post.

Qualifications

Essential: - MBBS/MBChB or equivalent and GMC registration; - Evidence Section 12 Approved

Experience

Essential: - Recent (within 12 months) clinical experience; plus 4 years whole time equivalent work as a doctor with 2 years in psychiatry

Skills

Essential: - Excellent Communication Skills; - Evidence of experience working within an MDT
