Physiotherapist

Undertake physiotherapeutic assessments and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have highly complex and acute / chronic presentation, to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatments needed, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

Plan, deliver and evaluate care for patients in partnership with MDT colleagues and together lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of all elements of the rehabilitation programme

Clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, to organise / triage this efficiently and effectively with regards to clinical priorities and use of time.

Assessment of patients referred to the team via routine and urgent referral.

Undertake comprehensive assessments, and use investigative and analytical skills, to guide diagnosis of patients, including those with a highly complex presentation.

Assess patient understanding of physiotherapy intervention and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack the capacity to consent to treatment.

Contribute to education and training of physiotherapists, health care professionals, physiotherapy students, carers, and assistants in physiotherapeutic management. This includes contribution to CPD of the MDT.

Formulate individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and utilise a wide range of treatment skills and options to deliver specialised programmes of care.

Qualifications

Essential: - Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy; - HCPC registration

Desirable: - Relevant validated clinical course/s; - Evidence of relevant post Graduate courses/CPD, maintained in portfolio

Experience

Essential: - Experience of working in a variety of specialities

Desirable: - Experience of delegation to unqualified staff; - Experience of audit

Knowledge

Essential: - Good knowledge of physiotherapy in relevant areas; - Awareness of audit; - Awareness of research processes
