The successful candidate will
- Provide a professional and courteous reception service to patients and visitors.
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and direct enquiries appropriately.
- Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the clinical system.
- Register new patients and update patient records accurately.
- Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.
- Receive and distribute incoming mail and electronic correspondence.
- Scan, file, and maintain patient records while ensuring confidentiality.
- Signpost patients to the most appropriate service where appropriate.
- Undertake general administrative duties to support the clinical and administrative teams.
- Work flexibly to meet the needs of the practice and provide reception cover as required.

Experience
Essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
- Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a busy environment
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Flexible and reliable with a positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Previous experience in a GP practice or NHS setting
- Knowledge of EMIS Web
- Understanding of NHS primary care services
- Knowledge of medical terminology
