- As a member of the Paediatric Ward team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children and young people with a broad spectrum of medical and surgical conditions.
- You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care in collaboration with children, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Your duties will include the safe administration of medications, monitoring and responding to changes in clinical condition, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to discharge planning.
- You will support children and their families during potentially stressful times, offering reassurance, education, and emotional support.
- Working within an integrated children's service, you will liaise with various health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care and a holistic approach to treatment.
- You will participate in safeguarding processes, attend relevant meetings, and follow up on concerns appropriately.
- You will also be expected to contribute to service improvement initiatives, uphold infection control standards, and promote a positive and inclusive environment.
- The role includes opportunities for personal development through regular supervision, training, and involvement in clinical audits or projects.

Qualification
Essential: - Registered Sick Children's Nurse/Registered RN Child; - HDU Competencies; - IV trained; - Central line trained
Desirable: - Undertaking or completed further academic study; - Relevant specialist course; - Practice Assessor/Supervisor course; - Leadership course; - APLS/EPLS course
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience in an acute setting
- Experience of taking charge in a Paediatric setting
- Post qualification experience in relevant setting.
Desirable: - Experience of line managing junior members of staff.; - Previous experience using EPIC.; - Experience of leading a team.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential: - IV Competencies.; - Central Line Competencies; - Able to work to deadlines; - Good communication skills.
