An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse to join the Research and Innovation Department...
As a Paediatric Clinical Research Nurse, you will support the delivery of clinical research studies involving children and young people across Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. Working within the Research and Innovation Department, you will ensure studies are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and research governance requirements.
You will identify, recruit and support participants and their families, coordinate study visits, undertake study procedures and collect high-quality research data.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, Principal Investigators and external partners, you will help deliver a diverse portfolio of paediatric studies and improve outcomes for children and young people through research.
- Delivering paediatric research studies.
- Screening and recruiting participants.
- Providing specialist research care and support.
- Undertaking study assessments and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate study records and data.
- Supporting participant safety and protocol compliance.
- Liaising with clinical teams and research partners.
- Supporting audits, monitoring visits and inspections.
- Promoting research opportunities within paediatric services.

Education & Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Children's Nurse with current NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
- Degree in Nursing or relevant health-related subject, or equivalent experience
- Recognised Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) training
Desirable: - Evidence of leadership, mentorship or practice assessor/preparation for practice assessor qualification; - Teaching, assessing or coaching qualification
Knowledge
Essential
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical research processes and study delivery
- Good understanding of ICH-GCP, research governance frameworks and regulatory requirements relating to clinical research
- Knowledge of informed consent processes and ethical considerations in clinical research
- Understanding of clinical trial set-up, recruitment, delivery and close-out activities
- Knowledge of adverse event reporting, participant safety and risk management processes
- Understanding of NHS research infrastructure, including the Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN)
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of working across a range of clinical specialities or clinical environments
- Experience working within a clinical research environment including the set-up, delivery and close-out of clinical research studies
- Experience coordinating and delivering clinical research studies
- Experience recruiting and managing participants within research studies
- Experience undertaking research-related clinical procedures and assessments
- Experience working within ICH-GCP and research governance requirements
- Experience supporting, supervising, mentoring or developing staff and students
- Experience contributing to quality improvement, audit or service development activities
Desirable: - Experience developing or reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); - Experience of line management responsibilities

Essential
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to a range of audiences
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a complex workload independently
- Ability to coordinate and prioritise multiple research studies simultaneously
- Demonstrable leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support and develop others through mentorship, supervision and teaching
- Demonstrable IT skills including Microsoft Office, electronic patient records and research management systems such as EDGE
- Clinical competency in venepuncture and other study-specific procedures relevant to the role
- Ability to work effectively across professional, organisational and specialty boundaries
- Experience of obtaining informed consent or supporting the informed consent process within scope of professional practice
- Ability to coordinate complex participant pathways and deliver participant-centred research care
Desirable: - Ability to analyse and interpret research performance data and identify improvement opportunities
Work Related Circumstances

- Occupational Health clearance
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service, including occasional adjustment of working patterns
- Ability to travel independently between Trust sites and attend research-related meetings, training and events as required
