Outreach Clinical Nurse Specialist

To work with the Clinical Nurse Manager and Service Manager to support service development, quality improvement initiatives and the delivery of high-quality patient care within HYPA clinics and school-based services across Peterborough and the surrounding area.

To provide clinical leadership, support staff development through teaching, supervision and promote effective communication with patients, colleagues and partner agencies.

To independently assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care for patients accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services, including providing specialist advice, contraception consultations, management of complex needs, Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) fitting and removal, and other SRH examinations and procedures.

To undertake screening procedures, including cervical cytology, diagnose and treat common sexually transmitted infections in line with guidelines, interpret and communicate test results, and manage partner notification and follow-up processes.

To perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, vaccinations and injections, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with Trust policies, PGDs, NMC standards and professional guidance.

To provide a safe, non-judgemental environment, support informed decision-making, manage safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people and vulnerable adults, and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure appropriate care and protection.

To work closely as part of the iCaSH Team working largely in our school-based service, offering information and advice on contraception, sexuality and sexual health along with general health issues, within, Peterborough and the local geographical area.

To provide individualised patient care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating appropriate care and advice.
