As an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor (OTTI) at The Brook, you will be a key member of the Occupational Therapy team, supporting adults with...
The main duties of the role include
- Planning and delivering delegated occupational therapy interventions and meaningful activities, both individually and in groups, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
- Supporting people to develop independence and participation in everyday activities, including self-care, daily living skills, routines, leisure, community access and preparation for discharge.
- Using practical, creative and technical skills to develop activities around each persons goals, strengths, interests and needs.
- Building therapeutic relationships and adapting communication and activities for people with different communication, sensory and learning needs.
- Observing and recording how people participate and respond, sharing this with the Occupational Therapist and contributing to the evaluation and adaptation of interventions.
- Supporting sensory and regulation approaches and the safe use of therapeutic equipment.
- Working alongside the wider multidisciplinary team, families and care providers, including modelling practical approaches and strategies.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to service development, audits and quality improvement.

Qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 3/Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent relevant qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as part of a team.
- Experience of supporting people in a health, social care, education or other relevant setting.
- Experience of supporting people to participate in activities, develop skills or increase independence.
Desirable
- Experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or autistic people.
- Experience of working with people who have communication or sensory needs.
- Experience of using practical, creative, leisure or therapeutic activities with others.
- Experience of working within an inpatient, healthcare or multidisciplinary setting.
Skills
Essential
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently within agreed boundaries and seek guidance when required.
- Ability to adapt communication and approach to meet individual needs.
