Typing of referral
letters and general correspondence
Using e-referral system
Keeping referral
templates and forms within the clinical system up to date
Scanning referral
letters on to patients records if required
Liaising with the
hospitals and secondary care about patient appointment and test result queries.
Dealing with queries
raised by Doctors, Practice Manager, and Patients.
Photocopying of medical
records when requested by insurance companies, solicitors or Doctors.
To provide holiday and
sickness cover for secretarial colleague.
To attend and minute
meetings as requested
Entering of test
results and sending letters to patients who require appointments etc.
General secretarial and
administrative duties for the GPs and Practice Manager
Attending
to the reception desk
Receiving
patients
Making
appointments
Answering
the telephone
Dealing
with the daily post
with practice tasks and contacting patients as required
Receiving
samples from patients
Receiving
visitors into the surgery
Photocopying
medical records for third parties
Registering
patients
Scanning
hospital and patient letters into patient notes
Ensure all practice
protocols are understood and adhered to.
Assist with and minimise potential issues that may lead to complaints
To
provide a professional and effective secretarial and reception service to our
practice population to ensure complete satisfaction with patients practice
We work with an exceptional team of people including 12 GPs, a
pharmacy and prescription team for medication and prescribing support, and
highly skilled nursing and admin teams
We are a friendly bunch that work closely and achieve great

Qualifications
Essential
- Experience in the use of EMIS clinical system
- Experience of telephone operation
- Experience of working in a medical reception
- Experience of using a computer
- Experience of using office equipment
- Accurate filing skills
- Able to work both independently and as part of an integrated multi-skilled team
- Able to work in highly pressured environment
- Able to communicate verbally effectively and efficiently
- To be a careful listener, diplomatic and tactful
- Able to build effective working relationships and communicate effectively with all staff
- Able to maintain patient confidentiality
- Able to use own judgement and common sense
- Able to work in a changing environment
- Honest and trustworthy
