Duties will include
Processing and managing hospital and community referrals, ensuring they are completed accurately and within appropriate timescales.
Preparing, typing and sending referral letters, clinical correspondence and other medical documentation.
Liaising with hospitals, consultants, community services and other healthcare professionals regarding referrals, appointments and patient care.
Dealing with patient queries relating to referrals and correspondence.
Monitoring referral-related tasks.
Supporting GPs with dictation, letters, reports and other administrative tasks.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information whilst ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times.
Using the practice clinical system, including SystmOne, to access, update and record information appropriately.
Working closely with reception, administration and clinical staff to ensure an efficient document and referral workflow.
Dealing with sensitive and confidential information in a professional and discreet manner.
Supporting the practice with general administrative duties as required.
Working within practice policies, procedures and NHS information governance and confidentiality requirements.
Contributing positively to the practice team and helping to maintain a high standard of patient-centred service.
At Gladstone we have a tight knit team, who pride themselves on working well together, with a strong work ethic and a team who provide mentoring and support on an on-going basis.
This team includes 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 1 x ACP, Pharmacist 2 Nurses, 1 HCA and a supportive admin and cleaning team. We are also supported by our PCN and CCG pharmacists, midwife and care co-ordinators.
We pride ourselves on being a patient focused practice.
We also train Yr 1 & 2 medical students, along with student nurses and work experience school leavers.
Free parking for staff is available on site, along with a well-equipped kitchen and staff room area.
Qualifications
Essential
- Qualifications
- GCSE Eng Language C or above
- Computer literate
- Excellent communication and patient skills
- RSA/CLAIT or equivalent experience
- IT Skills in Word, Excel and Email
Desirable
- ECDL
- RSA level 2/3 or equivalent
- Experience of using S1 clinical system
- AccuRx
- Abtrace
Experience
Essential
- Administrative experience in a busy office one year minimum
- Experience of dealing with complex enquiries
- Experience of data entry
- Understanding of the NHS and issues relating to patient care
Desirable
- Experience as a Practice Secretary or similar for at least one year
- Experience of coordinating appointment systems.
