Welcoming patients to the surgery and providing a friendly and
professional reception service.Answering incoming telephone calls promptly and dealing with a wide
range of patient queries. Booking, cancelling and rearranging GP, nurse and other clinical
appointments. Supporting patients with general enquiries and directing them to
the appropriate service. Take accurate messages and relaying information to the relevant
team members. Managing the reception area and assisting patients with check-in
and other administrative queries. Liaising with GPs, nurses, administrative staff and other
healthcare professionals. Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records. Handling sensitive and sometimes challenging conversations calmly, respectfully and professionally. Following practice procedures relating to confidentiality,
safeguarding, information governance and patient care. Carrying out general administrative duties to support the smooth
running of the practice.

We are a very busy village surgery with around 6,300 patients. Almondbury is a three partner practice, supported by two salaried GPs, two ANPS , a nursing team and experienced admin staff.
Our reception team fulfil an essential role in the running of the practice and is often the first
point of contact for our patients. We strive to provide a professional and helpful service.
Qualifications

- GCSE A to C in English & Maths or equivalent

- Qualification in customer care

Essential
- The successful candidate will have a kind, friendly manner who shows understanding and empathy. Will be able to stay calm and professional, with excellent listening skills. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. Ability to manage working in a busy environment, be organised and can prioritise workload. We are looking for someone who can be part of a team and can also work on their own initiative.
- Excellent communications skills, written and verbal are expected, in order to fulfil the role. Must be confident in using computers and telephone systems. Reliability and flexibility essential. Be able to show an understanding of patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information. Must have strong multi-tasking skills.
Desirable
- Previous reception experience working in a GP practice or NHS service desirable.
- Full training will be given.
