The Macmillan Cancer Support Manager is responsible for developing, leading and managing comprehensive, high-quality cancer information and support services both within the centre and in the community. This role involves professional leadership, service evaluation, volunteer coordination, financial oversight, and ensuring equitable access to services. The postholder will act as a role model and expert resource, promoting excellence in personalised cancer care, aligned with Macmillan Cancer Support values, the NHS Cancer Plan, and regional and local priorities.

Education & Qualifications
Essential
- Specialist training/experience in cancer care
- Educated to degree level
- Masters level study, or willingness to work towards
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable: - oAdvanced communication skills training; - oTeaching or mentorship qualification; - oAccredited qualification in counselling/complementary/creative therapies
Knowledge
Essential: - oIn-depth knowledge of cancer information and support needs; - oKnowledge of the national cancer agenda and local priorities
Desirable: - oUnderstanding of relevant frameworks (e.g. ACCEND)
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of managing a team/service
- Experience working directly with people affected by cancer
- Experience of working with volunteers and the public
Desirable: - oExperience of health education/promotion; - oPrevious experience in a senior NHS or health sector role
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Strong leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage own and others' workload
- Ability to gather, analyse and report data
- Excellent oral and written communication, including complex and sensitive information
Desirable: - oAbility to manage budgets and resources
