This post is to provide, develop and expand services including High Dependency Care, Maternal Critical Care, and Gynaecology including Reproductive Me...
A core component of this post is a clinical commitment to the Trust's Main Delivery Suite and is intended to provide the appointee with the opportunity of continuing and expanding the obstetric anaesthetic services already established at the Liverpool Women's Hospital. The work on delivery suite encompasses elective and emergency obstetric anesthesia in supporting the busy unit.
It is envisaged that twilight sessions may become necessary in the future and this will be under review.
Close teamwork with anaesthetic, obstetric and midwifery colleagues are essential, as this is a tertiary referral center for complicated obstetric problems. Taking part and developing the high dependency care along with routine obstetric anaesthesia and analgesic tasks is a pleasant and challenging field to teach trainees and develop research active in the department and Trust.
There is a whole day (2 sessions) Gynaecology Oncology list working in a busy and vital area of Gynaecology. Patients of wide age range and fitness require surgical assistance and anaesthetic cares.
Commitment includes a further 2 sessions made up of theatre lists or Preoperative assessment clinic in Gynaecological Surgery at the Liverpool Womens Hospital.
The department expects and promotes good teaching and training for junior anaesthetic staff and the successful appointees will contribute in this area along with providing training for other groups of staff within the Trust.
Supporting professional activity time (SPA) is offered initially as 1.5 PA (6hrs) for purposes of, among others, continuing professional development, enhanced appraisal and revalidation, with further SPAs granted after agreement of a job plan with the Clinical Director and Medical Director.
Liverpool Women's NHS FT became part of NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) in November 2024, following the coming together with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FT. UHLG was born from a shared aim to improve the care we provide to our patients.
