As well as a passion for care, you will bring to the role many transferable skills such as clinical leadership, change management and excellent oral and written communication skills. You will need to be able to influence others, prioritise work and have a flexible approach. The role will be varied and includes: promoting best practice and control, providing specialist advice and guidance for staff and patients, administering the audit programme, analysing and interpreting data and preparing and delivering reports.You will be supported and encouraged to undertake a programme of study in infection prevention and control at post graduate level and,therefore, should have a first degree or evidence of the ability to study at that level.

We have a long and proud history of caring for generations of local people and can trace our roots all the way back to 1814 with the first hospital in Bolton - the Bolton Dispensary in the town centre.
Bolton NHS Foundation Trust was formed in 2008 and, in 2011, we became an integrated provider with community health services joining the trust. Covering a catchment area that also incorporates parts of Bury, Wigan and Salford, we deliver hospital and community based services from the Royal Bolton Hospital in Farnworth and from 20 health centres across Bolton, to a catchment population of 310,000+ people.
The Royal Bolton Hospital is a major hub within Greater Manchester for women's and children's services and is the busiest single ambulance-receiving site in Greater Manchester. We're structured in four clinical divisions - Community Services, Families and Diagnostics, Medicine, and Surgery and are led by a Board of Directors. As an NHS Foundation Trust we're accountable to our members and have a Council of Governors to represent the views of patients, public, staff and partners.

Education/qualifications
Essential
- Appropriate NMC Registration
- Teaching Qualification / experience
- Up to date IV therapy training
- Degree in Nursing or in the process of undertaking study at this level
Desirable: - Advanced communications course; - Leadership Management Qualification; - Advanced clinical assessment skills
Experience
Essential
- Management and leadership experience at band 6 and above
- Evidence of continued personal development
- Significant post registration experience
- Relevant experience working within a dedicated vascular access role
Desirable: - Community experience; - Experience working across agencies NHS and Non-NHS
Skills

- Multidisciplinary working
- Significant skills in vascular access including insertion of PICC and midline catheters using ultrasound guidance and ECG technology
- Ability to lead specialist team
- Able to work effectively as part of team & also autonomously
- Ability to plan, organise and coordinate working under pressure
- Comprehensive patient assessment skills
- Proficient in venepuncture, cannulation and peripheral line management - with evidence to support
- Pro-active with desire to challenge historical norms to bring about positive change
- Desire to train other staff to take on and develop new skills such as PICC and midline insertion
