As Hospital Chaplain you duties will include

  • To visit patients that have been referred to the Chaplaincy team and to be able to connect with patients staff or relatives throughout the hospital, who require support or listening ear.
  • To be able to respond appropriately to people in intense emotional situations, whether they have a specific faith or not.
  • To plan and conduct appropriate services such as emergency baptism and blessing services for stillborn and miscarried babies, adult and baby funerals, bedside communion and supporting families whose relatives are dying.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service,all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week.The successful candidate will be expected to work one weekend in five and to take part in the on-call rota. This may involve being prepared to come in to the hospital overnight up to twice a week.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Eligible to be authorised by appropriate faith or belief group to practice as a healthcare chaplain
  • Registered or eligible to hold registration to hold registration of the UKBHC

Experience

Essential

  • To have significant experience of a recognised pastoral care role.
  • To have some experience of working as a Chaplain and/or some working experience of the NHS

Desirable

  • To have some knowledge and experience of other faith communities and multi-faith working

Skills

Essential

  • IT and keyboard skills

Attitude, aptitude

Essential
