Supporting the MDT to triage patients

Assessment and management of patients who are at high risk of medical complications of their eating disorder or who have already developed complications of their eating disorder.

Assessment and management of patients with medical and psychiatric comorbidities which impact upon their eating disorder.

Assessment of patients with an eating disorder who are pregnant, with appropriate liaison with obstetrics, midwifery and perinatal mental health services.

Assessment of psychiatric risk and using the Medical Emergencies in Eating Disorders guidance to guide clinical decision making.

Supporting the wider MDT to triage patients who have been referred to the service, including reviewing the results of medical investigations arranged by the referrer and advising on the frequency of health checks.

Reviewing and actioning the results of medical investigations arranged by the eating disorder service.

Clinical supervision of nursing staff working within the physical health team. This will include cross cover arrangements with the Manchester Eating Disorder service.

Discussing patients with other members of the multidisciplinary team

To provide clinical advice and liaison as required to colleagues in primary care, community services and acute specialties.

Contributing to weekly team meetings

Requirement, Qualification and Training.

Desirable: - Qualification in the field of mental health or other relevant specialism.

Experience

Essential: - Years experience

Desirable: - Any other relevant experience e.g. psychological therapies. Experience working as a qualified general practitioner. Knowledge of UK hospital systems.

Transport

Essential: - oHolds and will use valid UK driving licence or provides evidence of proposed alternative.

Availability

Essential: - Available to work 2 sessions per week.

Desirable: - Available to work on Mondays in order to attend the team meeting. Available to work 5 sessions per week.
