We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic gardener to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will help maintain and improve...

The work will be over a large geographical area. You will be based at the Tickhill Road Site in Doncaster, work covers other hospitals, health centres, clinics and community homes in the Doncaster, Rotherham and North Lincolnshire areas.

The post holder will undertake a range of gardening duties both supervised and unsupervised and will be expected to assist others in performing their duties to a professional standard.

In line with your work, you will regularly meet visitors to site, members of the public, patients and staff. Post holders will be expected to always maintain the professional image of the trust and will be polite and courteous. main duties include:

Grass cutting and lawn maintenance Weeding, pruning, and planting Hedge and shrub maintenance General garden upkeep and seasonal tasks Sweeping and clearing paths and outdoor areas Safe use and maintenance of gardening equipment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Basic formal education (i.e. Comprehensive, Secondary School or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Formal training in Grounds / Gardens / forestry skills.
  • City and Guilds Horticulture
  • Spraying Certificate
  • Chainsaw training or certification.

Experience

Desirable

  • Experience operating tractors and power driven mowers
  • Previous experience of using

Knowledge

Desirable

  • Knowledge of plants and how to look after them
  • Knowledge of pests and diseases affecting plants/trees

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

  • Able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
  • Confident, tactful, pleasant and flexible.
  • Self-Motivated and Proactive
  • Able to lift bags of peat, compost etc.

Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Reliable, Conscientious, Resourceful, Able to use initiative.
  • Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area

Desirable

  • Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Team worker, ability to get the co-operation of others.
