- Provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting with minor injuries and appropriate minor illness.
- Undertake clinical examination and investigations, including requesting and interpreting diagnostics within scope of practice.
- Develop treatment plans, including prescribing and medication management where appropriately qualified.
- Recognise patients requiring escalation, referral or onward management.
- Provide safe discharge, including advice, safety-netting and follow-up.
- Work closely with the ED multidisciplinary team to support safe and effective patient flow.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and high standards of patient safety, dignity and experience.
- Support the department to reduce waiting times and achieve the 4-hour emergency care standard.
- Contribute to audit, quality improvement, governance and service development.
- Provide clinical leadership, acting as a positive role model and supporting colleagues and learners.
- Participate in teaching, supervision and professional development.
- Maintain clinical competence through training, education, reflection and continuing professional development.
- Work flexibly across the 8:00am-11:00pm Minor Injury service

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Adult/children's Nurse/Practitioner
- BSc in Nursing / Paramedicine / Physiotherapy or related subject (or studying towards)
- Evidence of post registration experience
- Completion of a minor injuries course
- Minor Illness course
- Valid registration with NMC / HCPC
Desirable
- Further Management related qualification/training
- MSC clinical examination
- Evidence of advanced clinical competence including range of extended skills
- Non-Medical Prescribing course
- Leadership course
Knowledge
Essential
- Broad knowledge of Emergency Care
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance
- Knowledge of Trust/NHS procedures
- Understanding of audit and benchmarking
- Good knowledge of information governance including data protection and Caldicott guidance.
