Cardiff & Vale University Health Board is seeking to appoint an exceptional Director of Operations for the Planned Care, Cancer and Diagnostics to sup...
The post holder will have oversight of Planned Care, Cancer and Diagnostic delivery, ensuring the effective implementation of national, regional and local strategies as well as a focus on transformation and delivery of recovery plans.
The post holder will work in partnership with the Clinical Boards to ensure full engagement of all staff in the delivery of the Clinical Board/Health Board strategies in .
They will take a lead on cross-organisation projects and change initiatives that support delivery of the UHB's objectives.

Education/Qualifications
Essential: - Masters level or equivalent professional qualification; - Postgraduate management qualification
Knowledge
Essential
- In-depth professional knowledge of General Management, Financial Management, Business Planning, Clinical Strategies and Performance Management acquired through training
- Extensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of a range of issues across the NHS and NHS patient agenda
Experience
Essential
- Experience of leading teams, supporting and developing staff members, and actively managing poor performance in accordance with the values of the Health Board.
- Experience of directly managing staff and non-pay budgets.
- Experience of providing services to a high quality with restricted resources.
- Experience of implementing change management projects to develop or improve services
Skills
Essential
- Ability to lead the strategic development of a business with similar scale and complexity to the Clinical Board.
- Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentational and interpersonal).
- Ability to provide strategic direction and leadership in accordance with values.
- IT literate (proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Other
Essential
- Confident of management ability and ability to be credible and confident in dealing with both clinicians and senior management staff.
- Able to lead by example, and role model UHB behaviours and values.
