The post holder will be expected to work Monday - Friday and have the flexibility to work weekdays between the hours of 8.00am - 7:30pm. The post holder will be expected to work a minimum of one evening clinic per week and one Saturday (8am to 4pm) per month on a rota basis.

The Diabetic Eye Screening team currently has 28 team members and is a multidisciplinary team, comprising administration, failsafe, management, screeners, graders and Clinical Lead. We have set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to meet and we aim to screen a minimum of 75% of our cohort of diabetic patients on an annual basis. We have trained grading staff within the team who assess the images taken by the screeners and refer onwards to the 2 acute Hospital Eye Services if deemed necessary.

Essential

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite and screening software
  • Accurate and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision

Desirable: - Using own initiative; - Able to promote and adapt new working practices

Experience

Essential: - NHS experience; - Working in a clinic environment with patients

Desirable: - Running own clinics; - Previous experience of screening programmes

Qualifications

  • To work towards Health Service Diploma and achieve
  • Educated to A level and evidence of further education
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable: - Health Service Diploma; - Educated to degree level
