Diabetic / Diabetes Specialist Nurse

• Deliver comprehensive patient assessments focused on diabetes management, including blood glucose monitoring and symptom evaluation
• Educate patients on diabetes self-care routines, medication use, lifestyle modifications, and dietary considerations
• Administer medications safely and accurately according to prescribed protocols
• Develop personalised care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimise treatment outcomes
• Monitor patient progress through regular follow-ups, adjusting care strategies as needed
• Maintain detailed documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and clinical observations
• Support patients in understanding their anatomy related to diabetes and its impact on overall health

• Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting individuals with chronic conditions
• In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, particularly related to the endocrine system and metabolic processes involved in diabetes
• Proficiency in medication administration, including insulin injections and other diabetic medications
• Excellent communication skills to educate and motivate patients effectively

Essential

• Professional Registration: Active registration as a Registered Adult Nurse (RNA/RGN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or equivalent national regulatory body.
• Specialist Education: A post-registration qualification in Diabetes Care / Diabetes Management (minimum Level 6/BSc level, preferably Level 7/PgCert/MSc).Prescribing Status:
• Independent Nurse Prescriber (V300) status is highly essential or a mandatory requirement to achieve within a specified timeframe to safely initiate and titrate medications.
• Injectable Therapies: Proven, hands-on experience in initiating, titrating, and managing injectable therapies, including multiple daily injection (MDI) insulin regimens, GLP-1 receptor agonists, and biosimilars.

Desirable
