As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in leading the service and will deputise in their absence. You will oversee daily operations, support staff development, monitor quality standards, and ensure residents receive exceptional, person-centred care.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has a strong understanding of mental health, supported living, and regulatory compliance.

Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the service.

Lead and motivate staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence.

Ensure compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and organisational policies.

Supervise, mentor, and support staff through regular supervision and appraisal.

Assist with recruitment, induction, training, and retention of staff.

Develop and manage staffing rotas to ensure safe staffing levels.

Monitor incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints, and quality assurance activities.

Carry out audits and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

Support medication management and ensure medicines are administered safely.

Promote positive risk management while encouraging residents' independence and recovery.

Build effective relationships with families, healthcare professionals, commissioners, and external agencies.

Participate in the management on-call rota.

Qualifications

Essential

  • We are looking for someone who has:
  • Essential
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Level 5, or willingness to work towards it, is desirable).
  • Previous experience as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Registered Nurse, or similar leadership role.
  • Experience supporting adults with mental health needs.
  • Good understanding of CQC regulations and quality standards.
  • Experience supervising and supporting staff.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in the on-call rota.

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care.
  • Experience in a supported living or residential mental health setting.
  • Experience of audits, governance, safeguarding, and quality improvement.
  • Medication management qualification.
  • Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Positive Behaviour Support.
