Job description

Provide a

professional and welcoming reception service for patients, carers and visitors

across Community Dental Service sites.

Act as

the first point of contact, responding to enquiries in person, by telephone and

electronically.

Book,

amend and cancel patient appointments using the computerised patient management

system, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.

Process

patient payments, issue receipts and undertake basic banking duties where

required.

Support

clinicians and the wider dental team with administrative tasks, including

filing, scanning, data entry and correspondence.

Maintain

confidentiality and comply with NHS policies and procedures.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure

the smooth running of clinics and high standards of patient care. The post

holder may be required to provide cover at other Community Dental Service

locations and must be flexible to meet the operational needs of the service.

Experience

Essential

  • Recent, relevant experience in an Administrative /Secretarial / Reception / Customer Service Role.

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Willingness to commit to continuing professional development.
  • Professional manner as a representative of the Trust.
  • Tact and discretion for dealing with confidential information.
  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the role.
  • I understand the Trust is unable to provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time limited visa doesn't guarantee sponsorship at point of expiry.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of office procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and NHS Code of Confidentiality.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to academic Level 2 (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2, OCR/RSA2, City and Guilds 2) in a Business Administration-related subject or Considerable recent NHS administrative experience and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 2 qualification on appointment to post.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
